To work out C: • measure the width of the window (measurement B). Write down the measurement. • measure the width of the blind (measurement A). Write down the measurement. Take measurement B away from measurement A and divide the answer by 2 to get measurement C. Now follow step 2 then the instructions for face fixing 1 Fitting your blind inside the window (recess fitting) You need to decide whether to face fix or top fix your blind. Top fix your blind to the lintel if: • you have uPVC window frames, or • there are obstructions like handles Face fix your blind if: • you want to fit the bracket to the window frame 2 Put your blind in the fitting position and tilt it forward to show the ladder controls. You’ll need to leave at least 5cm either side of any cords when you fit the brackets 3 Top fixing Measure the distance that any handles stick out from the frame (A). Mark this measurement on the lintel and use it to position the back of the bracket. Mark the position of holes (B) and screw the bracket to lintel using screws and rawl plugs provided. 3 Face fixing Position bracket with the swing arm, which will hold the blind to the headrail, facing towards you. Mark holes (B). Screw bracket in place. Use rawl plugs if fitting to the wall. Stage 2: Attach the blind 1 Push the swing arm anti-clockwise as far as it will go. Clip the blind over the bracket, first easing the front lip of the headrail (A) into place before the back corner clicks in. 2 Push the swing arm clockwise until it locks into place, firmly holding the blind head rail. 3 To raise and lower the blind, use cord control A. To adjust the angle of the slats, use wand control B Transcriptions: In this video I am going to show you how to fit a Wooden Venetian blind Or an innovations "pho" wooden blind but the procedure is almost exactly the same now what you get is the blind itself plus a valance piece we'll come onto that later You'll also find the screws and the plugs A cleat for tidying up your cords and 2 end brackets Now these can be used for either face fixing if that's the option you have selected or as I'm going to do is for top fixing inside the recess of a window if your blind is a fairly long one you'll also get a centre support bracket and if its been included with your blind then you need to fit this as well in addition you will need to provide a drill with a suitable drill bit a cross head screw driver, a metal tape measure and a pencil now we are going to start with positioning these brackets now do you remember when we measured your window we were aware of obstructions that might get in the way of your blind We've got the same situation here we effectively want to make sure we have the back of the blind doesn't hit the handle when its on the way down so we need to measure how far out these protrude and for safetys sake I'm going to allow 4cms in my case So we need to do is make sure the back of the bracket is more than 4cm's away form the window frame so if I start off by making a mark where 4cm's comes to I then need to position the bracket and the way you mount it there is a little springy door at the front you want that door pointing towards you away from the window frame you want to mount that on there and pushing your pencil up through the hole mark where you are going to drill through and now we need to do the same on the other side now if your blind comes with a center support you might think you need to put it right in the middle but check first because check on the head of your blind in the middle their might be part of a mechanism so the best advice positioning that is measure from the end and Im going to put mine 75cm's in to avoid getting in the way but check with you blind for your own measuements so now I am going to come across 75cm which is here put a little mark and remember to that need to bring the back of the bracket out the same distance as the ends which in my case was 4cm so that it avoids the obstructions once again mark the position that you need to drill through using your pencil we are now ready to get the drill out now the brackets are designed so you can get your screwdriver through the hole on the opposite side so now your brackets are up you are now ready to put the blind in place but first you just need to check one thing if you have the Wooden Venetian blind with the Velcro squares on the front then that's fine you can put that up now but if you have got the innovations pho wooden blind Contd.....

For Window Covering Safety Tips, click the link below: http://www.windowcoverings.org Visit our channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/fixmyblinds . . . More information, click "show more". Things you will need for the repair: • Scissors • a Flat Head ScrewdriverPliers • a Tape Measure • a Lighter - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The tools you'll need for this repair are -- a tape measure, Scissors, a flat head screwdriver, and a lighter. We recommend replacing all of the lift strings at the same time to ensure proper function of the blind. First, remove the valance and set aside. To determine the length of each sting needed, measure the length and width of the blind. Twice the length plus the width is the formula used to ensure proper string length. Pull the string off the roll like this to prevent twisting. Cut all the strings you'll need for this repair now. If the strings are still intact, this repair can be done without removing the blind, even if they are frayed. Cut the lift string toward the bottom of the blind. Fuse the strings by melting the end of the existing string and one of the new strings. Roll the strings together as shown to weld them together. You might want to wet your fingers to do this as the melted string is hot. Repeat this process for all the other strings. Pull the existing lift strings until the new string comes out. Even the strings and cut the old string off. Remove the bottom button and the remaining old string from the bottom rail. At any time when working with lift string, using a lighter is a good way to blunt the end of the string to prevent fraying. This technique allows for the string to go through route holes easier. Insert the new string through the hole and tie a knot big enough to prevent the string from pulling through. If your blind uses a washer, reuse it. Cut off any excess string, insert the ladder strings and reinsert the button. Resthread the others the same way. Test your repair. With the blind all the way down cut the lift strings to the desired length. Attach any tassels at this time. If your strings are completely missing from the blind, blunt your precut strings and rethread them down through the slats as shown. Weave the strings through the ladder strings, switching sides every 3 slats. This will ensure the blind slats will not shift during operation. Rethread through the bottom rail and tie off as shown previously. Remove the blind at this point and place it on a flat work surface. Thread the strings through the cord guide at the bottom of the headrail -- through the cradles and down and out the cord lock. When threading the cord lock, make sure the strings go between the roller and the latch as shown. Remount the blind. Re attach the bottom buttons. Test you repair. Cut the lift strings to the desired length, attach the tassel and valance. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - You will be able to find these parts at a local convenience store or online: Scissors: http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-1448-Precision-Scissor-8-Inches/dp/B001BKHHGS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372095813&sr=8-1&keywords=scissors Flat Head Screwdriver: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-60-006-8-Inch-Standard-Screwdriver/dp/B000688ANU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1372095835&sr=8-4&keywords=flat+head+screwdriver Pliers: http://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-3511-8-Inch-Long-Pliers/dp/B000NPPAPM/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1372095911&sr=8-7&keywords=pliers a Tape Measure: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-33-425-Powerlock-25-Foot-Measuring/dp/B00002X2GQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372095922&sr=8-1&keywords=tape+measure - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Copyright © Fix My Blinds Inc 2014 and Subsequent Years All rights reserved.

Watch more Windows & Window Treatments videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/166018-How-to-Install-Window-Blinds If your new window treatments include blinds, save the hefty installation fee by hanging them yourself. Step 1: Decide on placement Decide whether you want to mount the blinds on the inside or outside of the window frame. It's a matter of personal preference. Will they fit flush between the inside edges of the window frame and just cover the glass — or will they cover the entire window itself and extend all the way to the outer edges of the frame? Step 2: Measure frame Measure the window frame both horizontally and vertically so you know what size blinds you need. Your measurements will determine both the length of the head rail — the long horizontal piece that the blinds drop from — and how far down your new blinds should fall. Step 3: Have them sized Once you pick out blinds, have the store cut them to size. Step 4: Read the instructions Read the manufacturer's instructions before you begin installation, so you understand any unique elements of the blinds you chose. Step 5: Mark the frame Find the end brackets that came with your blinds. They will anchor the ends of the head rail. Mark the window frame where the brackets will be installed. Make sure they are evenly spaced from the sides of the frame and — if they're within the frame — from the face of the window. Tip If you're mounting the blinds inside the window frame, mark the end brackets at least an inch and a quarter from the face of the glass so the blinds won't touch it. Step 6: Mark the support brackets Keeping in line with your earlier marks, pencil in the location of the support brackets, which will be spaced evenly along the head rail and help hold it up. How many brackets you need depends on the length of your blinds. Step 7: Drill holes Hold the brackets up to the frame to mark exactly where the screws should go, and use an electric drill to create holes for attaching them. Use a drill bit slightly smaller than your screws. Step 8: Install the brackets Using your guide holes, screw in one bracket at a time by hand. It is critical that the brackets are well aligned so that the blinds will rise and fall evenly. Tip Rubbing wax on the screws before you install the brackets will make them screw in more smoothly. A candle works well. Step 9: Attach blinds Consult your manual for the final directions on how to attach the blinds. In many cases, you will insert each side of the head rail into the appropriate end bracket and snap it closed. Step 10: Attach the tilt wand Look for a small plastic spinning mechanism sticking out of one side of the head rail. The tilt wand included with your blinds has tiny hooks attached to one end that will easily latch onto this mechanism, allowing you to open and close the blinds. Step 11: Keep extras Hang on to the instructions as well as any extra pieces of equipment that came with your blinds. You might need them if you ever want to reinstall your blinds. Did You Know? The early Egyptians tied together reeds from the Nile River to create an early version of window blinds.

See our complete "how to fit" series here:http://www.web-blinds.com/how-to-measure-and-fit/how-to-fit/ Read the guide as a PDF: http://www.web-blinds.com/media/pdf/fitting-instructions-wood.pdf Stage 1: Fit the head rail 1 Fitting your blind outside the window (exact fitting) To make sure the centre of the rail is precisely in the middle of your window, the measurements at either end (C) need to be the same.
